Albert Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
In Chiropractic Care, we look at the definition of sanity-doing the right thing over and over again until the mechanics and function are restored. Think about it this way, if your hand was taped in one position for many years, and then someone cut the tape off and tried to move it, it would be very difficult, and possibly uncomfortable, and your hand would want to return to the position that it had been in for an extended period of time. With repetition to improve normal movement and function, range of motion and function can be restored.
The same analogy can be applied to the spine. When there is dysfunction in the spine that has been there for a long time, the ‘one and done’ doesn’t work. It takes repetition through adjustments, stretching and exercises to make the change. Generally, the more consistent you are with care, the better the results. Thus doing the right thing over and over again, will help to restore function.
