The month of February is known to be heart month. Not only for love and Valentine’s Day but also for our own heart health. This month we look at heart health and how to look after our heart.

[1]Make healthy lifestyle choices. Many risk factors for heart disease and stroke are in your power to control. Explore our heart-healthy tips on diet, exercise, stress and more.

Eat Well

Heart-healthy choices like fruits and vegetables, and foods low in sodium can help lower your risk of heart disease and stroke, whether eating at home or dining out. Drinking a glass of water before bed has also been shown to decrease the risk of heart disease and stroke.

Get Moving

There are many benefits to activity, and as I have mentioned before, there are lots of easy ways to add more exercise into your daily routine. You can take the stairs instead of the elevator, park farther away from the store to get in a few extra steps, even daily chores like cleaning can turn into some physical activity.

Maintain a Healthy Weight

A healthy weight and waistline plays an important role in your overall health.

Stop Smoking

Even exposure to second-hand smoke increase your risk of developing heart disease and stroke.

Manage your Stress

Learn to identify the things in your life that are causing you stress so you can deal with them effectively.
