If you want to be able to enjoy the golf course this season, your physical condition is something that you should focus on. Pain shouldn’t be part of your game. Help yourself to stay in the game this season by protecting your back with these tips from the Ontario Chiropractic Association.
- Warm up and warm down. Stretching before and after you play both static and dynamic.
- Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water before, during and after your game. It is important to remember that by the time you are feeling thirsty, you are already starting to be dehydrated.
- Push, don’t carry your golf bag. Pushing, pulling or taking turns riding in a cart can help prevent undue stress on your back. If you want to carry your clubs, make sure to use a bag with a double strap to help distribute the weight.
- Choose the right shoes. Just like in your everyday footwear, wearing golf shoes with good support and that are a proper fit can help to prevent knee, hip and low back pain.
- Take lessons. Not everyone is able to swing the same way. By having a professional help you with your swing will allow you to find the right swing techniques for you to improve your game. It can also help to spare you any unnecessary pain caused by trying to perform a swing your body physically can’t do.
